WACO (November 19, 2012)--Small businesses in the area will soon get an extra boost.
The Service Corps of Retired Executives, a nonprofit group, helps small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs by providing mentors, tools and workshops and is coming to Waco.
The Cen-Tex African-American Chamber of Commerce is partnering with 17th Congressional District Congressman Bill Flores, the U.S. Small Business Administration Fort Worth/Dallas District Office and the SCORE Association District Director to provide the services at little to no cost.
The organization recently announced a workshop targeting veterans looking to start their own businesses.
Local and online workshops are available and more than 13,000 business experts volunteer as mentors in 370 different locations, a SCORE spokesperson said.
Waco will be the next location to open a chapter.
A formal announcement is expected to be made next week.
