Waco: Thousands Expected At Library’s Book Sale Anniversary

WACO (November 1, 2012)--The Friends of the Waco-McLennan County Library will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the book sale Thursday through Sunday with puppet shows and cheap books.

More than 200 volunteers will help run the event at the Extraco Events Center’s Creative Arts and General Exhibits buildings.

Wristbands can be purchased at the events center and more than 100,000 books will be made available to purchase.

Doors open Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with No Tax Day on those days.

On Saturday, teacher discounts will be offered with school identification from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and children’s puppet shows will begin every two hours beginning at 11 a.m.

Saturday’s hours are from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Sunday’s hours are 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. with bags of books provided for $10 each.

Nonprofit organizations can receive some books free of charge.
