WACO (September 14, 2012)--The Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN) Virtual Learning Scholarship application deadline is Friday for interested Region 12 school districts.
Applications submitted after the deadline will only be considered if scholarships remain.
The applications are available for the fall 2012 and spring 2013 semesters.
The TxVSN Virtual Learning Scholarship allows school districts the opportunity to offer online courses that meet graduation requirements if other funding is unavailable.
Districts or open-enrollment charter schools with an average daily attendance (ADA) of 49,999 or less may request a maximum of 35 seats while districts or open-enrollment schools with an ADA of 50,000 or more may request a maximum of 50 seats, a Region 12 spokesperson said.
The scholarship recipients will receive an additional $100 for each semester course that is successfully completed a student.
The funds can be used for the mentoring and monitoring of students enrolled in the program or to purchase additional TxVSN semester course seats, a spokesperson said.
