WACO (June 6, 2012)—Waco lawyer and businessman Kyle Deaver, 48, was named Tuesday evening to fill the vacant District 5 seat on the Waco City Council left vacant last month when Malcolm Duncan, Jr., was elected mayor.
Deaver, a Waco native and Baylor University and Baylor School graduate, was one of four applicants to fill the vacant post.
Physician Brad Holland, Thomas Flowers, a financial adviser, and Parks and Recreation Board Chairman Steve May also sought the position.
Deaver, who’s the grandson of KWTX Broadcasting Co. founder M.N. “Buddy” Bostick and the son of longtime KWTX executive Ray Deaver, will be sworn in on June 19.
