WEST (May 8, 2014) The West City Council has approved a new concept and playground equipment for the West City Park.

The park was destroyed last year in the fertilizer plant explosion.

Since then, 5-year-old Parker Pustejovsky, whose father was among the first responders who died in the April 17, 2013 explosion, has been working hard to raise money and rebuild the park.

His effort is known as Parker's Park Project.

The latest fundraiser for Parker's Park Project was an auction held on April 26 that raised more than $83,000.

West Mayor Tommy Muska said the park is one of several rebuilding projects that reflect the progress the community is making as it recovers from the disaster.

Parker is the son of West firefighter Joey Pustejovsky, who was killed in the blast.
