WEST (August 30, 2013) - Besides its famous kolaches, the town of West is best known for its end of the summer party.
West Fest kicked off Friday night and goes through Sunday.
Dozens of country music bands plan to take the stage in West this weekend, including the Chris Low Band.
Native to Central Texas, Chris Low was so shaken by the explosion in West he said it only felt natural to write a song about it.
"I have so many good friends there that it was very easy to write a song that related to what that community is all about," Low said.
The musician was asked to perform his song "Shaken Not Stirred" from the balcony at the funeral of Capt. Kenny Harris, the Dallas firefighter killed in the blast.
Low said he wrote the song one day after the explosion in just two hours. His favorite lyrics are from the chorus.
"You can't judge the size of this town's heart because it's far beyond all measure from the start," Low said.
The Chris Low Band will be performing at West Fest 2013 Sunday at 8 p.m.
'Shaken Not Stirred" can be downloaded on iTunes. Proceeds go to the victims of west.
