WACO (September 21, 2013) -- Members of the Police and Firemen's Association put together a fundraiser to raise money for the West Fallen Firefighter's families.
The association only offers insurance to members of law enforcement but none of the West Volunteer Firefighters used their insurance.
Because of the tragedy that struck the town, the association wanted to help out the families of the fallen victims.
Each volunteer firefighter's family received one thousand dollars, but there were two honorary firefighters whose families could not receive any money due to policy reasons.
Those firefighters were Buck Uptmor and Jimmy Matus.
Members of the association still wanted to give those families money so they planned a fundraiser to raise two thousand more dollars to split between the two families.
The rest of the money raised will be divided evenly between all families.
The fundraiser was held at the Trading House Bar and Grill in Waco with food being served all day, a live band, raffle and a silent auction.
Members of the association all work in law enforcement or are retired from law enforcement.
