WEST (August 14, 2014) After nearly 10 weeks of community service, volunteers with VISTA are celebrating the steps they've taken to help in the recovery of West.
Twenty-one volunteers, most of them from West, dedicated their summer to helping the city in projects dealing with construction and revitalization.
The program is a result of a joint effort between Baylor University, the Corporation for National and Community Service as well as the City of West. Together they were able to create a summer VISTA program for young people to help out their hometown.
All volunteers will receive a $1,200 Education Reward to help them in their higher education goals.
