WEST (July 2, 2013) -- Renovations began Tuesday on the West I.S.D. football stadium.
Crews began removing the field's grass.
In total, approximately four inches of soil will be removed before new sod is installed next week.
Bio-hazard experts have combed through the field three times.
The field was heavily damaged after being used as a medical triage center during the aftermath of the fertilizer plant explosion April 17.
Construction is expected to be complete within two weeks, and the field will be ready for full use in August for practice and home games.
