WOODWAY (December 27, 2013) Gregorio Fernando Reyes III, 18, was in the McLennan County Jail Friday facing charges of robbery and possession of marijuana after Woodway police arrested him in connection with the theft of beer from a local supermarket.

Assistant Woodway police Chief Robert Smith said officers spotted Reyes in Woodway on Thursday and arrested him on a warrant stemming from the theft of two cases of beer from the H-E-B store on Hewitt Drive earlier this month.

Officers recovered a small amount of marijuana as they took Reyes into custody, Smith said.

On Dec. 11 a man walked into the H-E-B on Hewitt drive and took two cases of beer without paying.

A store employee and a witness tried unsuccessfully to stop the man, whose vehicle struck the witness in the leg as he drove off.

The witness received only a slight injury, Smith said, but that incident enhanced the theft charge to robbery.
