(August 19, 2008)--A group of American Christians from whom 300 Bibles were confiscated by Chinese customs officials have left an airport after a 26-hour standoff.
Members of Vision Beyond Borders had previously refused to leave the airport in the southwestern city of Kunming until authorities returned the Bibles, but the group's director, Patrick Klein, said the U.S. Embassy told them that the Chinese would enforce their law against bringing religious products into China for more than personal use.
Klein said he was told that his group could pick up the Bibles on their way out of the country.
