(November 28, 2008)--Italian President Giorgio Napolitano says he'll open an exhibition of the famed Dead Sea Scrolls in Rome next year.
Israel's Antiquities Authority says parts of the scrolls will be shown in Rome next year.
Segments of the scrolls are lent out regularly to museums around the world but have not yet been shown in Italy.
The scrolls, which contain the oldest known copy of the Hebrew Bible, date back more than 2,000 years and are considered one of the most important archaeological finds ever.
A Bedouin shepherd found them while chasing a runaway sheep in 1947.
