BELL COUNTY (November 1, 2009)—The Bell County Sheriff’s Office is investigating how a car wound up submerged early Saturday morning in Lake Belton with the lights on, but no one at the wheel.

Deputies were dispatched just after 2 a.m. Saturday to Sparta Valley Park to check out a report that a car was in the lake with someone inside.

They found the car and were able to pull it to shore, but there was no evidence anyone was in it.

The car was off the end of the boat ramp. It was about 20 ft from the curtesy dock. This didn't have anything to do with the hill or any type of accident. This car was dumped as either an insurance job or at the end of a joy ride. If they had been smart enough to turn the lights off, it woulndt have been found minutes after it was dumped.

...Know quite a bit more about what really happened than what you're letting on, eh Jack? Maybe a little personal involvement in the situation?? ;)
