SAN ANTONIO (November 6, 2009)—Fort Hood Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was transferred Friday from Scott & White Hospital in Temple to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, an Army medical official said.
Hospital spokeswoman Maria Gallegos said Hasan is in stable condition in the intensive care unit at the hospital on Fort Sam Houston outside San Antonio.
Gallegos said Friday that the "shooter is here."
She would not provide more details.
Earlier in the day, officials said Hasan remained in a coma at Scott & White, but said he is expected to live, authorities said Friday.
A federal law enforcement official said investigators have not been able to talk to Hasan since the deadly rampage that left 13 people dead and injured 30 others at the sprawling Army post.
Post officials initially thought he had died, but said Thursday night that he survived, although he was shot at least four times.
The initial investigation shows that Hasan allegedly used only one gun during the attack, a 5.7-caliber semiautomatic pistol.
Army officials said Hasan also was carrying another handgun, but the law enforcement official said there's nothing so far to indicate the second weapon was fired.
The law enforcement official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the family of the Army psychiatrist said, "the actions of their cousin are despicable and deplorable."
Kim Fuller, a spokeswoman for Nidal Malik Hasan's family says relatives in Northern Virginia are reaching out to law enforcement Friday to offer insight.
Hasan's family said in a statement Friday that his actions don't reflect how they were raised.

Maybe he was in the wrong profession. I cann't understand how he could ever pass a psychological exam much less counsel the troops. I hope he comes out of the coma so we can find out why. Wonder why they didn't say where they moved him? Seems odd first they say he is dead and he wasn't, then moved him but did they?
He has been taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. And the latest is he fired off 100 rounds, and also carried a revolver. Pray for the Dead, the injured, their Families, and Friends. Also Pray for our Soldiers in the Middle East!!
because.... they're well protected. That still doesn't give this guy the right to kill and harm our fellow comrades. This plan was well thought out. I pray for the real heros . The heroic MP, God blesses you and I pray for your return to duty. God blesses you and your family, this guy would still be out there. I pray for the families that lost love ones in this horrible crime. We(Army) are hurt by the lost of our brothers and sisters. God bless all Armed Forces. Just will be served
