Seton Confirms It’s In Talks About Acquiring King’s Daughters Hospital
The Austin-based Seton health system confirmed Monday evening that it’s in talks with Scott & White Hospital about acquiring King’s Daughter’s Hospital in Temple, which Scott & White had planned to turn into a children’s hospital until the Federal Trade Commission threw up a roadblock.

Just curious, if the sale of KDH does not go thur, if Seton might still look at expansion to this area. Nothing at all against S&W, and they have basically rescued KDH, but some competition for an area this size is good.

The day we become terrified of competition and will do anything and everything to destroy it, is the day we admit that our own products/services are not exceptional. Lack of competition breeds the status quo and lack of improvement.

Both hospitals have great staff. It's not about the building, the CEO,COO,CNO and VIP of this and that or who owns what or how many, it's about delivering the highest quality service to our community, if you can wrap your heads around that, the rest is of little importance. GO KDH, GO S&W, Go Seton if you comes to town. We would be honored to have Seton in our community, however, if we could keep KDH it would be better.

Those that keep saying S&W will continue to own KDH if Seton passes are grossly mis-informed, I promise you.

CD you are exactly right, bad management and disgustingly corrupt boards of directors (on both sides) caused all of this heartache. I am a KDH employee and we all are very thankful for the docs and nurses that have come over to provide care for our patients. We all pray every day that Seton agrees to the purchase agreement. Thank God Tucker Bonner floated away on his million dollar plus golden parachute and won't be allowed to do anymore damage. It is just a shame that it had to come down to this!!!

During the Blood Drive @ S&W during the recent Ft Hood Shootings, we watched the remarkable people of S&W in action. The cream definitely rises to the top at Scott & White. We are forever grateful to them for helping our soldiers and their families and the compassion the exhibited in this trauma situation. They are a staple in our community, and because they are a class act, there are bound to be people who will look for fault. Against S&W? I think not!

Thomas your posting doesn't make sense. S&W will retain KDH if Seton does not purchase it. Please don't misunderstand this, S&W will not be out of the picture unless SETON DOES NOT PURCHASE KDH, spread the word.

Why are so many people against S&W ? Regardless as to who manages KDH, the KDH employees will be eternally grateful to S&W for providing assistance to us. KDH employees aren't against S&W. Is being negative the only thing people have to do? MANY THANKS to Dr. Knight and his wonderful staff. KDH is a better place today because of S&W, let's not forget that. Thanks to all of the Drs. that came over to provide services to the KDH patients, you all are great, very kind and considerate, we won't ever forget you. (Drs. Wood, Mirkis,Rajan,Hodges,Cesani, Camarillo,Chang,Majoobi,Le,Babbitt)You guys are TOPS in our book.

To CD, S&W will retain KDH if Seton passes on purchasing. S&W is a great hospital and has served KDH and the employees there very well and they are very appreciative. If you don't work @ KDH or S&W, you really don't know what is going on. There are many people that were laid off @ KDH and are very angry, get over it, get a life, get a job, MOVE ON. Always remember that KDH once served a purpose for you. Being angry and petty won't get you anywhere, certainly not a job.

To Ed, The hater, or maybe you were fired from KDH or S&W. I am sure that those who represent Seton (real business people) unlike you, know exactly what needs to be done to make a hospital profitable. You have to spend money to make money. I hope you get your health care outside of Bell county, stay away from S&W, Seton and KHD, we don't need negative people like you.

Hopefully a good thing that has come from the S&W diversion is that the board and management that ran KDH into the ground is gone. Bad management is what put KDH in the position of needing a bail out. I hope that whoever purchases KDH has good vision that will allow our community to continue to have a choice in their healthcare provider. To those that are not happy with the care they get with S&W you will now have the option to take your business elsewhere. That has been the biggest issue with this transaction, the board made a decision based on personal profit and community status, not the good of the community. It's time that we as a community start letting our voices be heard to our public leaders. Bill Jones, David Blackburn, and the City Council need to take note that the citizens will only take so much inaction before we start letting them know how we feel with our votes. Get involved and hold your leaders accountable for their actions. Don't let the big business leaders win.

Seton is a wonderful hospital. This is a great idea and hope they do buy KDH. By the way KDH was also great as were the entire staff.

let Seton acquire KDH so they can bleed thru a couple of million it loses a month (and has been for over a years...). You'll be thank the FTC when it's boarded up and condemned.

I am glad that there will be an option for health care in the area. Beware though of who might purchase KDH. Lets hope it is Seton or another religious or private group. Some of the for profit hospital groups have a reputation for bad management and eventually closing the facility.

I am so relieved to see the FTC has put the welfare of patients in Bell County at its priority. S&W just built a major Children's Hospital addition already, and no need for another one when the current one has many many empty beds and rooms. I am thankful for the FTC! Thank you!
