FORT HOOD (November 13, 2009)—Accused Fort Hood gunman Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan has no feeling in his legs, extreme pain in his hands and may be paralyzed from the waist down, according to John Galligan, the Central Texas attorney who represents the Army psychiatrist who’s charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder in the deadly Nov. 5 shooting at the post’s Soldier Readiness Center.
Galligan told The Associated Press Friday that doctors say Hasan’s condition may be permanent.
Civilian police officers Kimberly Munley and Mark Todd shot Hasan last week, ending the shooting spree that left 13 dead and 29 injured.
Galligan spoke with Hasan Thursday in the intensive care unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
He said Friday on the CBS “Early Show” that Hasan was coherent and alert during the conversation, but said he began to fade near the end of their hour-long meeting Thursday.
Galligan said Hasan's medical condition remains "extremely serious," but he said Hasan was alert enough to know he was speaking with his lawyer.
Hasan could face the death penalty if he’s convicted in a military trial.

Hi there...to ROCK and ME TOO...your right us Pro-lifers have to put OUR 2 cents into. Here is the thing.. conception is the first sign of life and the child has a soul. You take the soul away, you have murdered. Now, I don't understand how anyone in their right mind would post such a horrific statement. If you believe in God, your statement is a very wrong, it is Bibicial for a baby at any term, is a gift from God. Maybe you need God and I will pray for those at there who believe this child should not have justice. By the way, do you have kids??? Didnt think so. To the Shooter, I am glad we live in Texas and I am glad he will be dealt with severity.
I have heard a few news services talking about him possibly being charged with the unborn child's death, but I guess time will tell on that one. I hope he doesn't get the death penalty, so he can be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and the severe pain in his hands will just be the special added bonus courtesy of the brave law enforcement officers that took him down. He can suffer everyday, everyday, everyday from here on out. When time has passed and those who lost their loved ones look back, I want them to know that man is still suffering and will continue to suffer.
I cannot stand to look at this guy. Please take his picture off but keep the articles coming.
