Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will close out the first month of the 2007 season with a home game against McMurry University this Saturday. The Cru will enter the game ranked #2 in the nation in all three national polls and will be playing its third home game in the first four games of the season. McMurry enters the game with a 1-3 record and an 0-2 mark in American Southwest Conference play while UMHB is 3-0 and 2-0 in the ASC. The Cru has also beaten McMurry six straight times with all six of those victories coming by 14 or more points. Following this game, UMHB will play four of its final six away from home with a pair of road matchups against Top 25 teams. The Cru also still has to play all three of the team still unbeaten in ASC play. It may be about to get a whole lot tougher for the UMHB football team, but the Cru doesn’t plan looking past McMurry. Falling behind 9-0 at McMurry last season before rallying for a 38-15 victory should also help keep the Cru’s eyes on this week’s opponent.

“We have to keep reminding our kids and make sure that they understand that we have to be ready to play McMurry this week,” Cru head coach Pete Fredenburg said. “Our players have to understand that they need to get better each week. There are high expectations for this program and that’s cool, but it doesn’t really mean anything if we don’t take care of our business every single week.”

The game is a 2:00 PM kickoff at Tiger Field. UMHB is coming off a 48-0 victory at Texas Lutheran University last Saturday in Seguin. McMurry dropped a 47-14 home decision to Mississippi College last Saturday.
