Belton, TX –The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s basketball team held on to its #5 ranking in this week’s D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll despite going a week without playing a game. The UMHB men totaled 449 points in this week’s poll to gain 32 points over last week’s total. The Cru is 3-0 overall on the season and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference play. The UMHB men are the only ASC team ranked in this week’s poll for the second straight week. Defending ASC champion Mississippi College is receiving votes and posted the 27th highest point total of the week. Rochester took over the top spot in the country with 13 first-place votes and 575 total points, Brandeis is second with two first-place votes and 550 total points, Wisconsin-Stevens Point grabbed five first-place votes and 548 total points for third place and defending national champion Amherst is fourth with two first-place votes and 530 total points.
With the Cru football team likely to finish the season ranked 3rd in the country in the D3football.com Top 25 Poll, UMHB is the only Division III school in the country with both a football and men’s basketball team ranked in the top five in the country in their respective poll.
The UMHB men return to action with a non-conference game at Incarnate Word Wednesday night in San Antonio. The Cru will then resume ASC play with road games at U.T.-Tyler and U.T.-Dallas on Saturday and Monday.
