Belton, TX – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball player Joseph Villegas has been named American Southwest Conference West Division Hitter of the Week for the week ending February 18th. Villegas, a sophomore from Hays High School, batted .474 in leading the Cru to a 4-0 start to the season. He had two doubles, two triples, two home runs and eight runs batted in during those four games. Villegas slugged 1.105 and added two walks for a .524 on-base percentage. He also went 2-2 on stolen bases. Villegas then celebrated his honor by going 2-4 and hitting a walk-off solo homer in UMHB’s 6-5 victory over Trinity University today.

The Cru is 5-0 on the year and will return to action with a three-game home series this weekend. UMHB will host East Texas Baptist for a 2:00 PM single game on Friday before the two teams close out the weekend with a 12:00 PM doubleheader on Saturday.
