Belton, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's basketball team
placed three players on the American Southwest Conference All-Conference and All-West Division Teams today. The Cru also took three individual honors with Ken DeWeese winning ASC West Division Coach of the Year, Tilmon Gaddy earning West Division Newcomer of the Year and Ryan Burgart sharing West Division Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Gaddy, a junior wing from Harker Heights High School, was voted
ASC All-Conference, West Division Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-West Division. He leads the Cru in scoring at 15.3 points per game and is second on the team with 5.9 rebounds per game. Gaddy also has a team-best 39 steals and adds 41 assists and 11 blocked shots.
Burgart, a senior center from Huntsville High School, was named
West Division Co-Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-West Division. Burgart leads the Cru with 53 blocked shots and he also grabs a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game. He averaged 10.1 points per game and shot 57 per cent from the field this year.
Jason Wagner also earned All-West Division First Team honors.
Wagner, a junior guard from San Antonio MacArthur High School, is second on the team in scoring at 10.8 points per game. He also averages 2.4 rebounds per game and is fourth on the team with 30 steals despite missing seven games with an injury.
DeWeese was voted West Division Coach of the Year after leading
UMHB to a 25-3 overall record and a 19-2 mark in ASC play. The Cru won its first ASC Tournament title, posted its first outright ASC West
Division championship and became the first West Division team to sweep
the East Division since the league went to the full, 21-game conference
schedule. This is his third ASC Coach of the Year honor.
This is Burgart's second All-West Division honor and he was also
named to the All-Freshman Team as a freshman. This is the first ASC
All-West Division selection for Gaddy and Wagner.
