(April 28, 2008)--A trio of Baylor senior football players—cornerback Josh Bell (Dallas, Texas), linebacker Nick Moore (Arlington, Texas) and deep snapper Jonathan Weeks (Glendale, Ariz.)—have signed free agent contacts with NFL teams.

Bell, who earned Baylor’s best defensive skill player award for his performance as a senior in 2007, signed with the San Diego Chargers. He started every game for the 2007 Bears at corner and ranked fifth on the team in tackles with 61 stops (42 solos). Bell, a three-year Baylor letterman, also registered a team-high 10 pass breakups and 2.5 tackles for loss on the season.

Selected Baylor’s 2007 Kyle Woods Award winner, Moore signed a deal with the Cleveland Browns. He was the Bears’ third-leading tackler as a senior with 73 tackles (34 solos). Moore also added 5.5 tackles for loss, a sack, one interception, five pass breakups and four quarterback hurries. Moore transferred into the Baylor program from Georgia Tech after lettering as a true freshman in 2003, earned three letters for the Bears and made 22 starts over his final two seasons.

Elected a 2007 Baylor tri-captain by his teammates, Weeks signed with the Detroit Lions. A four-year letterman, he handled the Bears’ long-snapping duties in 42 career games. Weeks took over the Baylor long-snapping duties as a true freshman walk-on and was awarded a scholarship after his rookie season.
