(May 7, 2008)--The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has named Aaron Rodeffer to be the school’s new head men’s golf coach, UMHB Vice-President for Athletics Ben Shipp announced today. Rodeffer will begin his duties at UMHB on July 1st.
Rodeffer comes to UMHB from Temple High School, where he spent the last five years as head boy’s golf coach and also coached the girl’s golf team for the last two years. Rodeffer has also been serving as the Director of Junior Golf for the Sammons Junior Golf Academy. Rodeffer also spent one year as a teacher at Kentlake High School in Kent, Washington and started his teaching and coaching career with a six-year stint as head boy’s and girl’s golf coach at Ellison High School in Killeen. Rodeffer has sent a total of nine individuals to the Regional Tournament during his coaching career and also guided the Temple High School boy’s team to a regional berth two years ago.
“I feel very lucky and fortunate to be able to join the staff at UMHB,” Rodeffer said. “I hold Randy Mann in the highest regard and what he’s been able to accomplish in his nine years there. I look forward to the opportunity to continue what he’s been able to build and the opportunity to coach in the college ranks is a dream come true for me. I am very excited to be joining the Cru.”
Rodeffer is a 1996 graduate of Washington State University, where he earned a degree in Social Studies and minored in history. Rodeffer also attended Spokane Falls Community College before transferring to Washington State. Rodeffer and his wife, Megan, have two children, Molly and Brandt.
“We are pleased and excited about the addition of Aaron to our staff,” UMHB Vice-President for Athletics Ben Shipp said. “I feel he is the type of person and professional that can continue and expand the success we’ve experienced with our men’s golf program.”
Rodeffer will replace Randy Mann as head coach of the UMHB men’s golf team. Mann is making the move to full-time Associate Director of Athletics for the Cru in June. The Cru men won the American Southwest Conference Championship this spring and will make their first NCAA Division III National Championships appearance next week.
