(July 8, 2008)--Odell James is hosting the Odell James Football Camp (Camp O) this week on the campus of Baylor University for Elementary, Jr. High and High School aged students July 9-12, 2008. Odell James is currently serving as the Assistant Director of Football Operations for the Baylor football program.
Coming out of high school Odell James was a Blue-Chip All American ranked as the top recruit in the state of Texas and second in the nation, and referred to as the most versatile quarterback in the country.
The Odell James Football Camp is designed to embrace the mastery of the basic fundamentals of football and then a quick progression based on skill and grade level to the more complex nuances of the game using college schedules, plays, and exercises. Classroom time will also be used to explain topics such as nutrition, communication, academics, career development, and time management.
“I am committed to my faith, my family, and to uplifting the lives of young people,” James states. “Forming this camp and sharing my experiences, knowledge, and modeling proper behavior for these student athletes just seemed like the next natural step,” James concluded. Vince Carter, 2-time All-American at the University of Oklahoma and former Oakland Raider, will provide the players with inspiration as well as entertainment at the camp concert to be held at WISD’s Playhouse on Wednesday, July 9th at 7 p.m. Joining Carter will be Baylor’s Heavenly Voices, Baylor quarterback Ryan Roberts and Highland Baptist Church’s Rick Julian will deliver an inspirational message to the camp. The concert is open to the public, with limited seats available and a $2 entry fee at the door. The camp also features a 7-on-7 tournament, with games played each night, culminating in a championship game on July 12th at 11:30 a.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium.
