Baylor Loses Opener Save Email Print

(August 28, 2008)--Riley Skinner tossed three touchdown passes,
two to Chip Brinkman, and No. 23 Wake Forest played up to its first
preseason ranking in school history with a 41-13 win over Baylor on
Thursday night.

Skinner, whose 72 percent completion percentage led the nation last season, was coolly efficient against the Bears (0-1), going 27 of 36 for 220 yards, adding a 43-yard TD strike to Ben Wooster in third quarter. He also earned his 19th career victory, a school record for a
quarterback.

Baylor, trying to shake off 12 years of losing, hired coach Art Briles away from Houston to replace Guy Morriss. But Briles became just another victim of dubious Bears history, becoming the sixth of the last seven Baylor coaches to lose his first game.

I am a proud Baylor fan and I watched the entire game. Yes, Wake Forest had a great quarter back, But I watched very carefully to see what was the reason we couldn't get down and score, 1, Wake Forest is a High Ranked Team. 2. If you watched their quarter back and them watched ours. Wake Forest Qtr Back seem to have plenty of time to concentrate on his throws, to where Baylor's qtr back seem to have to rush, Our line needs to protect and hold back the guys longer so our qtr back can have time to see who to throw to. And also when Griffin is running our blockers need to spread him a way to get through. Griffin is going to be a great player if we he has the help he needs. In all I thought they did pretty good for playing a high rank team as Wake Forest. Just practice on the line and our defense and we will do good, and go all the way,,,,,,,,

Wake was the better team and we all knew that coming in ,Baylor needs to keep playing Robert Griffin. This kid will be a star. Minus the fumbles and the botched punt play this score could have easily been 28-20 or closer. I think this team will be the best we have seen this decade. They need to work on the fundamentals and we can soon expect great things from the green and gold.
