(September 24, 2008)--Texas manager Ron Washington expects to
return for a third season -- despite the team's slumping finish.

The Rangers are dealing with their eighth losing record in nine
years.

But Washington today made it clear he's had no formal discussions with team president and Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan or general manager Jon Daniels about next season.

Ryan told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he has "no intentions of making a change at this point in time." Ryan also notes that Washington is under contract for next year.

The Associated Press reports many expected Washington to be fired in April, when the Rangers were 7-16 and had the worst record in the major leagues 3½ weeks into the season.

Ryan also indicated that general manager Jon Daniels, who's under contract through 2011, will return.
