(October 6, 2008)--University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s soccer player Jonathan Hernandez has been named American Southwest Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 5th. Hernandez, a sophomore forward from Belton, posted a hat trick and an assist in UMHB’s 6-2 victory over Concordia Texas to open the weekend. He then scored the only goal for the Cru to help salvage a 1-1 double overtime tie with U.T.-Tyler. Hernandez wins ASC Weekly honors for the second time this season and he shares this week’s award with Mississippi College’s Phillip Buffington.
The Cru soccer team is currently 3-3-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the ASC. The UMHB men will hit the road for ASC matches at U.T.-Dallas on Thursday and at the University of the Ozarks on Saturday.
