(October 9, 2008)--The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will head east for the first time this season as the Cru travels to Pineville, Louisiana to face Louisiana College in an American Southwest Conference tilt Saturday afternoon. The Cru will enter the game ranked #3 in the country by both D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association. UMHB is 4-0 overall and 3-0 in ASC play on the season while Louisiana College is 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the ASC. The Cru is also coming off a 20-18 victory over nationally-ranked Hardin-Simmons University last weekend and UMHB has won all seven previous meetings with the Wildcats. The Cru ran for 358 yards in the victory over the Cowboys and will hope to use that same type of game plan on Saturday.
“They’ve really got some talented skill players and some guys who can really run,” Cru head coach Pete Fredenburg said. “We need to work hard defensively to limit that and then run the ball successfully to control the clock and keep the ball away from their offense. We have some talented youngsters who need to step up and make some plays. That’s kind of the theme to our season and I think you will continue to see people step up. We expect and challenge our players to get better every week.
UMHB won last year’s meeting between the two teams 70-14 in Belton. The Cru is 3-0 all-time against the Wildcats in Pineville.
