(October 10, 2008)--Former major league pitcher and Waco resident Sid Hudson died today at the age of 93.
Hudson was in the major leagues from 1940 to 1954, and he pitched for both the Washington Senators and the Boston Red Sox. Hudson won seventeen games as a rookie, and played in two all star games. Hudson won 104 games and had a career ERA of 4.28.
After his playing career was over, he served as a scout and as an assistant coach with both the Senators and the Texas Rangers.
He was also the pitching coach for the Baylor baseball program from 1987-1993.
Hudson's funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco.
