(October 15, 2008)--Jordan Larson recorded 16 kills and Nebraska held Baylor to an .000 hitting percentage as the second-ranked Huskers downed the Bears 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-20) on Wednesday night at the Nebraska Coliseum.

Baylor suffers its third-straight loss, falling 3-0 at third-ranked Texas before dropping a 3-1 decision to Iowa State on Saturday.

Tara Mueller and Kori Cooper added eight kills apiece for Nebraska who moves to 18-0 on the season.

Briana Tolbert and Katie Sanders led the way for Baylor with five kills apiece. Taylor Barnes added 21 set assists. Allison King tallied 12 digs to mark the 13th-straight match that she has reached double-figure digs.

Baylor, who entered the match leading the Big 12 Conference with 2.68 blocks per set on the season, failed to record a block through the first two sets before tallying five blocks in the third set. Nebraska recorded 11 blocks on the night, the second-most blocks this season for the Huskers.

Nebraska jumped out early in the first set, taking a 5-1 lead on a Baylor hitting error. Baylor was able to keep the lead at four until a four-point run by the Huskers made the score 15-7 on a Mueller kill. After Baylor got two-straight points to trim the lead to six points, Larson connected on three-straight kills to push the lead back out to nine. The Huskers took the first set on another Baylor hitting error.

Baylor came out aggressively in the second set, using two Nebraska hitting errors and a kill from Tolbert to take a 3-2 lead. With Baylor trailing 6-5, Nebraska used two separate six-point runs to build an 18-6 lead on a Husker block. Baylor score four of the next five points to cut into the lead, but two kills from Larson and two service aces from Amanda Gates secured the win for Nebraska.

The Huskers got out to another fast start in the third set with seven-straight points to take a 10-3 lead. Baylor got three points in a row to trim the lead to five points at 14-9, and later used consecutive blocks in a three-point swing. Tolbert tallied a kill and Sanders recorded a service ace as Baylor cut the Nebraska lead to 24-20, but Sanders’ service error gave the third set to Nebraska.

Baylor returns to action on Friday night as the Bears travel to College, Station, Texas to take on Texas A&M. The first serve from G. Rollie White Coliseum is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
