(October 18, 2008)--The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s soccer team broke open a close game with three late goals and the Cru went on to a 4-0 victory over Louisiana College Saturday afternoon in Belton. UMHB improves to 4-5-3 overall and 3-4-3 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-13-0 overall and 1-8-0 in ASC play.

The Cru took a 1-0 lead when Tyler Wagner scored an unassisted goal 12 minutes into the match. It would stay that way until Trevor Shoppach scored off an assist from Daniel Gable at the 82 minute mark. Jonathan Hernandez added an unassisted goal six minutes later to make it 3-0 and Garrett Graham added a goal in the final minute to provide the final margin. Jude Austin posted a shutout in goal for the Cru. Jayson Stewart had four saves for the Wildcats as UMHB outshot LC 22-1 in the victory.

The UMHB men will now head to Abilene for a pair of ASC matches next weekend. The Cru will face Hardin-Simmons University for a 3:00 PM match on Friday before closing out the weekend with a 3:00 PM match at McMurry University on Saturday.
