Several UMHB Players Honored
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team placed 24 players on the American Southwest Conference All-Conference Team released today.

(November 20, 2008)--The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team placed 24 players on the American Southwest Conference All-Conference Team released today. The Cru also took three of the individual awards handed out by the ASC. Linebacker Eric Henri was voted ASC Defensive Player of the Year, guard Josh Littlejohn was named ASC Offensive Lineman of the Year and head coach Pete Fredenburg shared ASC Coach of the Year honors with Hardin-Simmons coach Jimmie Keeling.

Pete Fredenburg was voted ASC Coach of the Year for the fourth
time in the last seven years. He guided the Cru to a 9-1 overall record
and an 8-0 mark in ASC play this season. UMHB won its fourth straight
ASC title and its sixth overall. The Cru has also been ranked in the top
10 nationally all season long.

Henri, a senior linebacker from Lake Dallas High School, was
named ASC Defensive Player of the Year and also earned First Team
All-Conference honors. He leads UMHB with 64 total tackles and 10.5
tackles for loss. He has 2.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and a pass
break-up for the ASC's top-rated defense.

Littlejohn, a senior offensive guard from League City Clear
Creek High School, is ASC Offensive Lineman of the Year and First Team All-Conference. He has helped clear the way for a Cru rushing game that averages an ASC-best 264.8 yards per game and UMHB has allowed just six sacks on the season.

Henri is joined on the All-Conference First Team defense by five
of his teammates. Free safety Derrick Williams, a senior from Temple
High School, is second to Henri with 62 total tackles and he leads the
Cru with four interceptions. Linebacker Ben Beckworth, a sophomore from Palestine High School, has 58 total tackles and is second to Henri with 10.0 tackles for loss. Defensive end Mark Manning, a senior from Burnet High School, has 28 total tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss and is second on the team with 4.0 sacks. Defensive tackle Mark Balderas, a senior from North McKinney High School, has 33 total tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss. Defensive tackle James Jenkins, a senior from San Antonio Madison High School, has 27 total tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss.

Littlejohn is joined on the All-Conference First Team offense by
placekicker Alan Munoz. Munoz, a sophomore from Ferris High School, is 8-12 on field goals this season and has hit 48-51 extra points. Munoz
leads the Cru in scoring with 72 total points on the year.
The Cru placed four players on the All-Conference Second Team
Offense. Guard Clayton McCorkle, a senior from Shiner High School,
center Dustin Davis, a sophomore from Harker Heights High School, and
tackle Myke Gobert, a junior from Cypress Ridge High School, all
represent the Cru offensive line. Those players also helped clear the
way for UMHB's league-leading rushing team. Fullback Tommy Vadell also claimed a spot on the Second Team. Vadell, a senior from Northshore High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, was a punishing blocker at fullback and also ran for 125 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Eight Cru players earned Honorable Mention All-Conference
honors. Wide receiver Pi'Dadro Davis, a junior from Jefferson High
School, has 14 catches for a team-high 456 yards and six touchdowns.
Tight end Marcos Garcia, a senior from El Paso Hanks High School, is a
punishing blocker and also has two catches and a touchdown on the year.

Offensive tackle Luke Long, a senior from Arp High School, is another
member of the Cru's offensive front. Quarterback Josh Saenz, a senior
from McAllen High School, has thrown for 938 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. He also has a team-leading 479 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. Bryson Tucker, a junior from Caldwell High School, made the team as a return specialist. Tucker has a 19.5 yard average per punt return, including an 81-yard return for a score. He also averages 21.2 yards per kickoff return. Defensive end Marco Coppola, a junior from Willis High School, has 31 total tackles and a team-leading 4.5 tackles for loss. Cornerback Brett Parker, a junior from Richmond Foster High School, has a team-high eight pass break-ups and also has recorded 12 total tackles on the season. Punter James Crawford This is the third ASC All-Conference selection for Henri, Littlejohn and Williams. Balderas, Jenkins, Long and Tucker are all
two-time All-Conference picks and this is the first ASC All-Conference
honor for the other UMHB players. Hardin-Simmons quarterback Justin
Feaster was named ASC Offensive Player of the Year, Mississippi College defensive end Brannon Willisson earned ASC Defensive Lineman of the Year honors and Louisiana College's Jordan Rideaux was voted ASC Special Teams Player of the Year. Howard Payne wide receiver Tre Mason and Mississippi College quarterback Tony Reyer shared Freshman of the Year honors The Cru finished the 2008 regular season with a 9-1 record and won the ASC title with an 8-0 league mark. UMHB will host Hardin-Simmons University for an NCAA Division III National Championships First Round game this Saturday at 12:00 PM at Tiger Field in Belton.
