UMHB Men Lose To Trinity
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s basketball team never recovered from Trinity University’s hot start as the Cru fell to the Tigers 81-71 Tuesday night in San Antonio.

(November 25, 2008)--The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s basketball team never recovered from Trinity University’s hot start as the Cru fell to the Tigers 81-71 Tuesday night in San Antonio. The loss drops the Cru men to 0-2 to start the season. Trinity improves to 2-1 on the year with the victory.
The two teams would be tied at eight 3:29 into the game, but the Tigers then went on a 14-0 run to take control of the game. The lead would stretch to as many as 19 points in the first half before the Cru would pull to within 45-31 at halftime. The Cru fought back to cut the lead to three points at 57-54 with 6:56 left in the game, but the Tigers scored the next six points to open it up to nine again. The Cru could not get the lead under six points the rest of the way as Trinity iced the game from the free-throw line.
Tilmon Gaddy and David Ray led UMHB with 18 points apiece. Gaddy also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. B.J. Moon had 17 points to lead four Tigers in double figures. Patrick Robinson added 16 points, Charles Houston had 15 and Luke Caldarera came off the bench to score 11. Caldarera and Houston also grabbed nine rebounds apiece.
UMHB shot just 40 per cent from the field and 25 per cent from three-point range in the loss. Trinity hit 10-27 from three-point range and the Tigers also out rebounded UMHB 42-29 in the victory.
The Cru men will now return home to open American Southwest Conference play this weekend. UMHB will host U.T.-Dallas for a 7:30 PM start on Saturday. University of the Ozarks will then come to the Mayborn Campus Center for a 7:30 PM start on Monday.
