(January 6, 2009)--Sources confirmed to KWTX Tuesday afternoon that former Baylor football coach Guy Morriss is taking the head coaching position at Texas A&M Commerce. The school has scheduled a news conference to announce the move for Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.

Texas A&M Commerce is a Division II school that plays in the Lone Star Conference. The Lions went 5-5 in 2008.

Morriss was the head coach at Baylor from 2003-2007. In those five seasons he had a record of 18-40.

This past season, the former NFL offensive lineman was an assistant coach at Kentucky State University.

Good to see Guy as a head coach again. Baylor was one of those deals that just didn't work out for him, but he left the program in MUCH better shape than it was when he came in.

I'm happy for Coach Morriss. He started the attitude change and turnaround of the Baylor program with Big12 wins over Colorado, Texas A&M, Oklahoma St, Kansas, and Kansas St. I wish him well in his new position at A&M Commerce. Sic'em Guy!
