Texas Baseball Sweeps Season Opening Series
Texas gets strong pitching in Sunday win.

WACO (February 22, 2009)--Brandon Workman and Austin Wood combined for a three-hit shutout for Texas, which beat Illinois-Chicago 1-0 Sunday to complete a season-opening four-game sweep.
Workman (1-0) allowed two hits while striking out seven over
seven innings. In six of the seven innings, he retired the side in
order. Wood allowed one hit and a walk in two innings of relief,
earning his first save for Texas (4-0).
Adam Worthington (0-1) surrendered just one run on six hits and
two walks while striking out two over 7 2-3 innings for the Flames
(0-4).
Brandon Belt's double to the gap in right centerfield in the
bottom of the sixth inning provided the game's only run. Brandon
Loy went 2-for-4 for the Longhorns.
