Baylor Baseball Ranked 6th
Baylor remained sixth in this week’s Baseball America Top 25, the publication released Monday.

DURHAM (March 2, 2009)--Baylor remained sixth in this week’s Baseball America Top 25, the publication released Monday. It marks the second consecutive week the Bears have been No. 6 in the ranking and the third consecutive week the Bears have been in the top 10.

LSU moved up one spot to No. 1, while Texas jumped from fourth to No. 2. North Carolina remained third, while former No. 1 Texas A&M dropped to fourth. The next four teams – UC Irvine, Baylor, Cal State Fullerton and Arizona State, remained unchanged. Rice climbed one spot to No. 9, while Georgia jumped two spots to No. 10.

Other Big 12 Conference teams in this week’s ranking were Oklahoma (16th) and Oklahoma State (23rd). Baylor’s next opponent – TCU – was the week’s biggest mover, climbing 10 spots to No. 13. The Bears also face fifth-ranked UC Irvine in this weekend’s QTI Baylor Classic. The Bears currently are in a 10-game stretch with eight games against Top 25 opponents, including six against top 10 teams.

In other rankings, the Bears climbed three spots to No. 14 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Poll and dropped one spot to No. 14 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30.

Baylor returns to action Wednesday, traveling to Fort Worth, Texas, for a midweek game at No. 13 TCU. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CST at Lupton Stadium.
