Baylor Football Holds Pro Day

WACO (March 3, 2009)--Eleven former Baylor student-athletes performed in front of NFL scouts Tuesday morning at the school's annual Pro Day at the Highers Complex practice fields.
Offensive tackles Dan Gay and Jason Smith, who attended the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis last month, and nine other former Bears participated in the on-campus event that lasted three hours and was attended by scouts representing 16 NFL teams.
Joining Gay and Smith at Baylor's Pro Day were Dwain Crawford, Jacoby Jones, Drew Kerr, Kirby Freeman, Leon Freeman, Marlon Price, Vincent Rhodes, Ray Sims and Thomas White.
Head coach Art Briles and the current Bears continued preparations for the 2009 season with spring practice No. 2 Tuesday afternoon. The squad hit the field for the second day in shorts and helmets. Baylor will continue practice Thursday and Friday this week before spring break begins at Baylor, March 7.
The Bears will conclude the spring Thursday, April 2, with a controlled scrimmage presented by Time Warner Cable. The scrimmage and all spring workouts will take place at the Highers Complex fields located behind the Simpson Center on University Parks Drive.
All workouts will be open to the public, and fans interested in practice times can contact the football office at 254-710-3058. Remaining spring practice dates are scheduled for March 5,6,16,17,19,21,23,24,26,28,30,31 and April 2.
