Villegas Named Hitter Of The Week
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball player Joseph Villegas has been named American Southwest Conference West Division Hitter of the Week for the week ending March 16th.

BELTON (March 17, 2009)--University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball player Joseph Villegas has been named American Southwest Conference West Division Hitter of the Week for the week ending March 16th. Villegas, a junior outfielder from Hays High School, went 7-11 for a .636 batting average in the Cru's series victory over Hardin-Simmons this weekend. Villegas scored four runs, drove in two more and had a home run and a double to go with two stolen bases. He also walked twice for an on-base percentage of .692 during the series. Villegas wins ASC West Division Hitter of the Week honors for the second straight week.

The Cru is currently 12-8 overall this season and has a 4-2 mark in ASC West Division play. UMHB will return to action with a three-game weekend series at McMurry University in Abilene. The two teams will open the series with a 7:00 PM single game on Friday night before closing out the weekend with a 12:00 PM doubleheader on Saturday.
