MCC Baseball Splits Doubleheader
The McLennan Highlanders and Cisco Wranglers split today’s conference doubleheader at Bosque River Ballpark.

WACO (April 30, 2009)--The McLennan Highlanders and Cisco Wranglers split today’s conference doubleheader at Bosque River Ballpark.
MCC came from behind to take game one 9-7.
Cisco began the scoring with one run in the first as Junnior Dishmey singled, stole second, moved to third on a mishandled throw and scored on a sacrifice fly by Casey Kalenkosky.
The Wranglers added three runs in the second. Colby Braddock and Nathan Williams both singled and Patrick Gratzke drew a walk to load the bases. Braddock scored on a sacrifice fly by Marty Ballez, Williams scored on a single by Ryan Cook and Dishmey singled to score Gratzke.
Tyler Park singled and scored on a Dishmey double in the fourth to extend the lead to 5-0.
Cisco scored one run in the fifth as Alex Carnall singled, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice fly by Williams and scored on a single by Ballez.
Mat Beasley’s solo home run in the fifth put MCC on the board.
The Wranglers added one more run in the sixth as Dishmey singled, advanced to second on a single by Kalenkosky and scored on a fielder’s choice by Carnall.
The Highlanders exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the win. Michael Pair reached on an error to lead off and Andrew Batten singled. Brian Nephew followed with a double, scoring Pair and Batten. Matt Bauer then singled to score Nephew. Hunter Bailey singled and Beasley walked to load the bases. Corey Rucci was then hit by the pitch, bringing Bauer in to score. Bailey and Beasley scored on a single by Clayton Rabbe. Pair singled to score Rucci and Rabbe scored on a sacrifice fly by Batten.
Cisco bounced back to win the night cap 16-6 in seven innings.
The Wranglers scored eight runs in the first inning. Park singled and Dishmey followed with a home run. Kalenkosky singled and advanced to second and third on passed balls. Carnall was hit by the pitch and Braddock reached on and error, allowing Kalenkosky to score. Gratzke then singled to score Carnall. Ballez singled to score Braddock and Darby Walker doubled, scoring Gratzke and advancing Ballez to third. Ballez scored on a sacrifice fly by Park and Walker scored on a single by Dishmey.
MCC scored two runs in the bottom of the first. Scott Pollard singled and moved to second on a passed ball. Pair drew a walk and Batten advanced the runners with a sacrifice fly. Nephew singled to score Pollard and Pair scored on a single by Bauer.
The Highlanders added one run in the third. Pair and Batten drew back-to-back walks. Nephew hit into a double play, moving Pair to third and putting Batten out at second. Bauer then singled to score Pair.
Cisco added two runs in the fifth. Walker doubled, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Park and scored on a ground out to first by Dishmey. Kalenkosky followed with a solo home run.
The Wranglers added another two runs in the sixth. Gratzke singled and Johnny Aldaz walked, both scoring on a single by Park.
MCC scored two runs in the sixth. Rabbe walked and Pollard singled, both scoring on a single by Pair.
Aldaz’s grand slam in the top of the seventh rounded out the scoring for Cisco. Kalenkosky, Carnall and Braddock had all walked to load the bases.
The Highlanders added one run in the bottom of the seventh as Bauer singled, moved to second on a passed ball, reached third on a single by Beasley and scored on another passed ball.
MCC returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Hill for a conference double header at 1 p.m.
