WACO (July 8, 2009)--Jason Smith, also known as J Smooth, will be honored with a summer send off reception at 6 p.m. July 16 at the Greater Waco Chamber.

Smith, a Dallas native, is a former Baylor All-American lineman and No. 2 NFL draft pick from Baylor University. He was picked by the St. Louis Rams and will leave soon for summer training.

The reception is a free and open to the public to give fans a chance to get autographs and take photos with the 6’5”, 307-pound offensive tackle.

Smith is a former tight end and started four seasons on the offensive line totaling 38 career starts. He had 96 knockdown blocks as a senior, the most ever by a Baylor offensive lineman. He also is the first non-special teams player to earn All-America honors since 1995.
