WACO (October 13, 2009)--Baylor football coach Art Briles said Tuesday that quarterback Robert Griffin's knee surgery was a success.

"I'll just say it was very successful. Now the rehab and the journey to get back to where he was at Baylor is in process," said Briles.

The surgery repaired an "an isolated tear" in the ACL. He sustained the injury in the first half of Baylor's game with Northwestern State last month.

He returned to action in that game after the injury, and threw three touchdown passes as the Bears led 41-10 at halftime.

In three games this season, the sophomore signal caller has thrown for 481 yards and four touchdowns.

Griffin was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2008 after throwing for 2,091 yards and rushing for 843.

The Copperas Cove native accounted for 28 touchdowns during his rookie season.
