Central Texans Dominate Big 12 Award
Marlin's Danario Alexander and University High's Perrish Cox were both honored by the Big 12 by being named player of the week.

(November 16, 2009)--Danario Alexander (Missouri), Perrish Cox (Oklahoma State) and Josh Cherry (Kansas State) have been named Big 12 Conference Football Players of the Week as selected by a media panel. Alexander (offense) and Cox (defense) were honored for the second time this season with Cox earning the third award of his career. Cherry (special teams) picked up his first weekly recognition.

BIG 12 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Danario Alexander, Missouri, WR, Sr, Marlin, Texas

Danario Alexander had 10 receptions for 200 yards and a school-record three touchdowns in helping Missouri to a 38-12 win at Kansas State. His TD catches were from 54, 16 and 80 yards. Alexander recorded 200 yards receiving for the second consecutive week and has 81 receptions for 1,238 yards and 11 scores on the year. The senior ranks third in the NCAA with 123.8 receiving yards per game, is tied for fifth nationally with 8.1 receptions per game and is third with 11 receiving touchdowns.

BIG 12 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Perrish Cox, Oklahoma State, DB, Sr, Waco, Texas

Perrish Cox intercepted two passes and broke up three more in Oklahoma State’s 24-17 win over Texas Tech. He also recorded four tackles, including one for a three-yard loss. The Cowboys held the Red Raiders more than 100 yards below their season average in total offense. Cox leads the nation in passes defended (2.11) and is a semi-finalist for the Thorpe Award.
