Reunion Arena Comes Down
Crews started the final demolition process Tuesday in Dallas on the former home of the Mavs and Stars.

DALLAS (November 17, 2009)--Controlled demolition started to bring down what's left of Reunion Arena in Dallas Tuesday.

Crews on began the final demolition process Tuesday on the roof and columns, of the former home to the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and the NHL's Dallas Stars.

The Dallas City Council in February approved a more than $2 million contract with A&R Demolition to level the outdated sports and entertainment venue, which opened in 1980.

Reunion Arena in hosted its last event in June 2008, a Spanish-language religious service.

The Mavericks and the Stars now play at the high-tech American Airlines Center.
