McLennan Community College has hired Josh Scott, a former pitcher at Baylor University, as the Highlanders’ new assistant baseball coach.

Scott, who played at Baylor from 1998-2001, most recently was a volunteer assistant coach at the University of New Mexico. He was the pitching coach at Angelo State University from 2004-2006, where his staff boasted the lowest ERA in the Lone Star Conference for two seasons. Prior to joining the staff at Angelo State, he spent two years coaching at the high school level in California, serving as the junior varsity coach for a year each at Downey and Artesia. He also spent two seasons playing in the Philadelphia Phillies minor league system and has spent the last four summers coaching in several collegiate-level summer leagues.

Scott graduated from Baylor with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2001 and earned his master’s in psychology from Angelo State in 2006.
