Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will put the loftiest national ranking in the program’s history on the line this weekend as the Cru prepares to take on Texas Lutheran University. UMHB is 2-0 overall and 1-0 in American Southwest Conference play and is ranked #2 in the country in all three of the major national polls. The Cru will be going on the road for the first time this year as UMHB takes on the Bulldogs at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Matador Stadium in Seguin. Texas Lutheran is 0-3 overall and 0-1 in ASC play this season, but the Cru doesn’t plan on looking past anyone this season.
“Every team poses a different kind of challenge and we see Texas Lutheran as a program on the rise,” Cru head coach Pete Fredenburg said. “Coach (Dennis) Parker and his staff are trying to get some things established and they will have their guys ready to play. They try to run the ball and get some things going on the ground, much more so than any other team we’ve played this season.”
The Cru leads the all-time series with TLU 8-1 and UMHB has won the last seven meetings between the two teams. The Cru is coming off a 55-14 home victory over Sul Ross State last Saturday. The Bulldogs dropped a 34-5 decision at Mississippi College last weekend.
