MARLIN (June 15, 2013) -- Chargers receiver and Mizzou standout Danario Alexander held his second annual youth football camp in his hometown of Marlin.
About 200 campers ages 7-14 came out to the free camp at Legion Field. Alexander received a little help from his friends in college and around Central Texas. Eagles reciever Jeremy Maclin, Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, Jaguars defensive back Kevin Rutland and Steelers offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum (Mexia) were among the players who helped out with the camp.
"This camp is not for me, it's for my community. We kind of struggle a little but from a community aspect with our youth. This is a good way to get the kids away from any kind of bad situation they're in," said Alexander. "Free their mind, get some exercise in, they're out here having a good time and it means the world to me."
"Have an opportunity to come back, play here, and also have the opportunity to come back and be an NFL player and give some advice to some of these kids on what it takes to be successful, not only on the football field, but in life," said Beachum.
