WACO (October 25, 2013) In its regular season home finale, Baylor put together a 1-0 win over Oklahoma State on Friday evening at Betty Lou Mays Field. The win for the Bears (9-5-3, 2-4-1) was their first in their last six matches while the loss was the Cowgirls’ (6-4-6, 1-2-3) first in five matches.
Much like they had been doing earlier in the season, the Bears jumped out to an early lead and the defense guided them to a win. The lone goal of the game came in the fourth minute off a free kick by Larissa Campos from 40 yards out. Ashley York corralled the ball in the box on the right side and fired a shot from 10 yards out into the net. The goal was BU’s first in nearly its last 300 minutes of play and was York’s first since Sept. 1 at SMU.
A physical game that featured 31 fouls (BU 21, OSU 10), Baylor grinded its way to victory by protecting the 1-0 lead the rest of the way. Goalie Michelle Kloss made two saves in each period as the defense helped fend off five OSU corner kicks and eight OSU shots.
