(February 5, 2014) Despite the fact that the class will grow throughout the year, Baylor head track and field coach Todd Harbour announced the signing of eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday.
“This is one of the smallest groups we have ever signed, because we didn’t have a lot of scholarships to offer and we expect to add a few down the road,” head coach Todd Harbour said. “However, we are very, very excited and proud of the group we are signing.”
The class features three women and five men, including five state champions. The women’s class is highlighted by hurdler Kiana Hawn of Forney, Texas and Ann-Marie Dunlap of Crawford, Texas. Hawn is the reigning Texas 4A state champion in both the 100 and 300-hurdles. Dunlap won both the 800 and 1,600-meter Texas 2A state titles in 2013. She also has claimed the state’s past two 2A cross country crowns.
On the men’s side, sprinter Alexis Robinson (Eureka, Calif.) is the headliner. He posted the nation’s eighth-best quartermile time last year at the high school level and was second in California. Eric Anderson (Nashville, Tenn.), Daniel Garza (East Bernard, Texas) and Matthew Parham (Sugar Land, Texas) will all join the distance crew with state titles to their credit.
