(May 2, 2013) -- Former Baylor Lady Bear Brittney Griner will be taking her talents abroad.
Griner, the number one overall pick of the Phoenix Mercury, signed her first overseas contract with WCBA’s team Zhejiang Chouzhou, the team announced Thursday (via Sina).
Griner will join the squad following the WNBA season.
The All-American finished her college career as the player with second most points in NCAA history. She averaged 22.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5 blocked shots per game.
Last year Zhejiang won the WCBA regular season, but fell to Shanxi in the finals. Griner will replace Australian center Liz Cambage, who now will not be returning to the team due to the Chinese foreigner rules (1 non-Asian, 1 Asian foreigner allowed per team).
