(April 23, 2013) -- The McLennan Highlanders shot 303-295-307 – 905 to finish in second place at the NJCAA District 2 Championships at the par-70, 6,659-yard Sugar Tree Golf Club.
The finish, combined with scores from the Texas JUCO Championships, have qualified MCC for the national tournament.
The national tournament will be held May 12-17 at Texas Tech University's Rawls Course in Lubbock.
Odessa finished in first place with 304-297-299 – 900 and Paris finished in third place with 295-296-315 – 906.
Ryan Beatty shot 79-72-72 – 223 to lead the Highlanders and finish tied for seventh place. Elliott Whitley of New Mexico finished in first place with 74-70-71 – 215.
Other MCC scores: medalist Dillon Vaughn, tied for 11th, 70-75-80 – 225, Kyle Southard, tied for 14th, 74-71-81 – 226; Chris Low, tied for 27th, 76-79-77 – 232; Andrew Hans, tied for 27th, 82-73-77 – 232; and Andrew Johnson, 46th, 74-83-85 – 242.
