WACO (February 12, 2012) -- The McLennan Highlanders defeated the Odessa Wranglers in a men's golf dual match at the Split Rail Golf Club in Aledo.
The match began with doubles on Saturday with the duos teeing off in the bitter cold weather. The high temperature only reached 39 and strong winds keptthe wind chill in the teens throughout the day.
MCC's Greyden Blevins and Andrew Johnson defeated Odessa's Chris Bell and Jamie Warman 3 and 2. Zach Garbe and Chapman Herwood were 2 up with 2 holes to play over Odessa's Ryder Skillern and Blayne Street when the matches were delayed due to darkness. MCC's Chase Chapman and J.T. Taylor were 2 up with 3 holes remaining over Antonio Morales and True Graves when the match was postponed.
The two doubles matches were scheduled to be completed this morning prior to the start of the six singles matches. But a frost delay and declining weather conditions in Odessa forced the Wranglers to forfeit the remainder of the matches and give MCC the win.
The Highlanders will compete in the Wrabgler Invitational on Feb. 20-21 also at Split Rail.
